Semi-analytic Evaluation of Quality of Service Parameters in Multihop Networks

چکیده

The performance evaluation of large multihop networks in terms of the standard quality of service parameters such as latency, throughput, network utilization, etc., is often performed with the use of discrete-event simulation tools which would require substantial computational resources with the increase of the number of nodes in the network. An alternative approach is considered in this contribution which is based on the analytical estimation of the local queuing performance for a given set of input parameters combined with computational experiments for statistical evaluation of the control variables for the entire network. This semi-analytical approach proves useful for arbitrary telecommunication networks where various traffic and service conditions can be tested under different routing scenarios with minimal developmental efforts. Sample open network configurations are considered as an illustration of the statistical evaluation of the network performance.
